Thriller!

My 12 year old neice, Aidyn, was in Thriller this year so we had a girls night out (with Dad and Cory) to watch her. She did awesome! The age limit to see the show is 6 and Caid kept telling me that "On my next birthday I'll be 5 and after that comes 6 so can I just go since I'm close?" Aidyn was in the "Chucky" dance.

Conference at the Cabin

Conference weekend last week we headed up to the cabin. I love all the Fall colors! But man was it cold!! I spent almost the entire weekend curled up next to the fire. The kids were in heaven running around playing with cousins and by all the dirt mixed with candy on Jord's face, you can tell she enjoyed herself! But they did get in their screen time with all the iPads and iPhones passed around.

"Sleepovers are supposed to be fun!"

Caidence and Brielle are always begging for a sleepover. I keep telling Caid that when she is old enough to take care of her diabetes on her own, it'll be easier for her to have sleepovers. Then a few weeks ago Zach had to go to a tennis tournament out of town and it happened to be the same weekend Don had Scout camp and Alex was working the night shift so we all decided to head out to Jodi's for a big party. We had pizza, the kids were playing outside (yes, Jord was running around in her underwear) and we had already made our drink run to the gas station. I walked outside to watch the little girls playing on the tramp. They were playing Crack the Egg and Jord was in the middle. I'm glad I walked out when I did because all of a sudden, Jordy got bounced and started to cry, but curled up and I thought she was just taking in a breath before she let out the scream. I grabbed her to see if she was ok, but when I uncurled her I realized she wasn't breathing. She was bright blue and completely limp. I started running inside carrying her and yelling, "Jodi! Jodi!" and she immediately dialed 911. She still had a pulse and heartbeat, but was not waking up. The ambulance was one its way and she was still on the phone with 911 when Jord finally opened her eyes and started to cry. We guessed she was out about 2 minutes. At this point Caidence is bawling and luckily Kalee was there to handle her. Caid kept saying, "I thought sleepovers were supposed to be fun! If this is what sleepovers are like, I don't want sleepovers anymore! I am so worried about her. I just need to hug my pillow." Jord was finally able to talk and was telling me her neck hurt, but was pointing to her throat. When the paramedics got there, they checked her out and once she got up and walked outside with her blanket in hand and underwear wedged up her bum, they decided she was fine if we didn't want them to take her to the hospital. She must have just gotten whiplash and the wind knocked out of her and passed out.
As soon as they left, Jordyn was asking to get right back on the tramp. Caid frantically said, "No mom! Don't let her jump! Remember when she died?!" She was so distraught. She kept telling me to "just hold Jord and make sure she's ok." Poor girl. Anytime Jordyn started to cry over the next few days, Caid would tell her to stop before she turned blue.
We decided it was time to break out the smore stuff (and maybe end  the night with a call for a fire truck.) But the fire went over without any more issues.
Jordyn was back to her normal self in no time.
The kids watched movies and then we tried to get them settled down and to bed. Jord would not wind down and I finally found her asleep on the floor next to our bed around 2:00 in the morning (I had her in the pack n play next to the bed but she kept climbing out.)
It always takes some time for us to forget just how "fun" sleepovers are until we are ready to give in and plan another one. :)

Jord Quotes

Jordy is such a ham! Between her and Caid, I'm always laughing!! And because of her little voice, everything she says sounds funny! She speaks in complete sentences and talks like a little adult. Coming from such a little bean, it's just the cutest thing ever!

When she first started potty training, she was sitting trying to go and said, "My peepee's not working! It went back into it's home."

We were going to meet her friend, Elle, at the park and she asked what Elle's dad's name was. I told her and she said, "Oh, that's a nice name for a dad."

She was trying to put on her pajamas and I asked her if she wanted help. "No, of course not."

We were on our way to the cabin and the girls were asking which of their cousins were going to be there. Well, she loooves the boys. When she found out Payton and Strider were going to be there she said, "I so 'cited to see Stider and Payton! I wuv them so much!"

Her new thing is to tell me when she's angry. "I so an-gy at Caidence. She ate all my chips!" While I had volleyball the other night, Jord wanted to stay at Grandma and Grandpa's. When I picked her up I asked if she had fun. She said, "Yeah but I an-gy at Grandma. She not let me use her com-pooter!"
Lately she obsessed with the movies "Annie" and "Little Rascals." She walks around and shows us what Annie does in the movie. Or she walks around singing "You are so beautiful!" just like Alfalfa, with the the screech and all.
I had to go to the hair supply to get color and while we were there, she got into the makeup samples.
After finding them in the same crib, I decided it was time to move Jordyn to the big girl bed. They just wanted to be together. They have done awesome and her first nap in a bed by herself, I checked in on her after 2 minutes and she was sound asleep. I definitely planned on waiting longer because she is such a good sleeper and I didn't want to ruin that, but it hasn't ruined a thing. I still get her to take a 2-3 hour nap and she sleeps longer in the morning now. Easy potty trainer, easy transition to big girl bed. I lost my baby but she's such a good big girl!

Caid Quotes

Caid keeps inviting her whole class over for sleepover dance parties. Everyday when I go pick her up from school, a different kid asks me when her party is so they don't miss it. I told Caid she needed to quit inviting everyone over without clearing it with me first. She pointed at me and said, "You missy! You're on my bad list!"

Caid had a new teacher helping in gymnastics. As we walked out, she said to me, "That's my new teacher Cashie. It's really not. I just made that up. I don't know her name."

While we were driving, Caid put her feet up and said, "Ew! Smell my stinky feet!" I told her no cuz that's gross. She said, "What's your favorite smell in the world?" I told her I liked cologne to which she replied, "Here! Smell my feet! They smell like cologne!!" Witty little stink!
