Caid Quotes

We had been running errands all day and the last one was to Target. (We may end up at Target about once a week.) As we pulled in, Caid yells "Awww. Now we're back to normal!"

After I turned Dora on for her one day, Caid looked at me and in all seriousness, says "Mom, you're a good mom."

During a visit from our Home Teachers, Caid farted. It was pretty quiet so I tried to hold in my smile and continued listening to them talking. Then she goes, "It was me! I farted!"

Caid was acting up during church. (Surprise, surprise.) I took her out in the foyer and asked if I needed to take her home for a nap. "No, I'm calming down. (Huff, phew.) See, I take deep breaths."

Me and Zach were fighting over who was her best friend. She finally started yelling over us "Guys, guys, guys! You all my best friends!"

I had to go to the dr. and get a mole removed. Caid sometimes gets boobs confused with other body parts. I told her I was going to the dr. to have a mole cut off. As soon as I got home she ran up and asked "Did the dr. cut your boobs off?"

Christmas 2010

Christmas is 100x more fun now that I have kids! Caid was too young last year so she didn't really know what to expect this year, but I think she liked it. But since there were presents she figured it was her birthday and would get really mad if you tried to tell her otherwise. I didn't take any pictures of our Rideout Christmas Eve Eve, but I did take my camera and left it there so I also didn't get any pictures of our Eldredge Christmas Eve or even Christmas morning. I took a few on my phone just to make sure we knew we did celebrate this year.

Zach decided he wanted to start a new tradition of doing a new puzzle on Christmas Eve. It was really fun until 4 1/2 hours later when we were just finishing, and couldn't find the last piece. We did eventually find it under the couch.
Caid didn't know what it meant to ask Santa for something. She didn't know who or what the big deal was. We got her a few fun things we knew she'd like and figured we were good. Three days before Christmas she had a dr appt and one of the nurses asked what she wanted for Christmas. Without hesitation she answered "A mermaid sleeping bag." What?! Where did this decision come from? And that's all she could talk about until Christmas day. Luckily the big guy came through for us. (And UPS who showed up at 4 o'clock on Christmas Eve.)
All Jordy got for Christmas was her two front teeth! (Haha so clever!)
And Christmas day she discovered marshmallows!

Merry Christmas!! We had a great holiday season! Both kids are wiped out and napping, so it may only be 5 o'clock on Christmas night, but I've already taken down the tree and all the decorations and even had time to blog about it.

Sugar Cookies

We had a fun night of pizza and sugar cookies with the Rideout cousins. Obviously Franklin hasn't heard the story of the Little Red Hen. As you can see, he didn't help at all but he still ate them all when we got home!

9 Months

Weight: 17 lbs (25-50th percentile)
Height: 27.5 inches (50-75th percentile)
*loves to crawl wherever Caid is and steal her food
*pulling on Christmas tree, XBox, computer, pulls everything off the shelves on the desk--basically into everything!
*happy screams
*loves Franklin
*pulls herself standing to furniture and shakes her bum

This has been a traumatic week for Jord. Monday she had a checkup and flu shot. Tuesday she was sick from her flu shot and broke out in a terrible diaper rash so back to the dr for medicine. Friday she got her ears pierced. When we got home from getting her ears pierced her mean mom slammed her foot in the car door. (And I think I cried as hard as she did I felt so bad! Luckily it just bled and ripped a little skin off. No broken bones.) And Saturday not one, but both bottom teeth finally broke thru!! Don't worry Jordy, Santa will be here next week to spoil you!

I'm not mailing out cards this year so feel free to print and post on your fridge! :) jk
Merry Christmas from the Rideouts!!

Ear Piercing

I almost can't even stand to look at this first picture. But she was more mad that I was holding her still than about the piercing. So while Caid has been potty training we made a deal with her that once she can go a few days without accidents, we would take her to get her ears pierced. So today was that day. Zach had the morning off so we loaded up and went to the mall (which was a madhouse!) We got to the store, got in the chair, and I made the mistake of warning Caid that it might hurt a little bit. And she lost it. She started crying and screaming that she didn't want it done. So I figured that since we were already there, I'd get Jordyn's done instead. Zach has never gone to the girls' dr. appts before because he doesn't want to watch them get shots (even though he gives Caid her shots everyday) so it was torture for him to watch Jordyn cry and he refuses to go back when Caid gets hers done.Jordyn recovered quickly and looks adorable. But as I was laying her down for her nap, I noticed one of the earring backs was missing. I ran back to the crazy packed mall and finally found a parking spot. I went in and told her I got home and one of the backs was missing. She didn't say one word to me, just rolled her eyes and handed me an earring back. Customer Service people!! (So who cares if I got home and found the other back in Jordyn's jacket. The worker didn't have to be such a brat!)
And maybe one of these days Caid will decide she is ready...

First Tennis Lesson

Not very successful but at least she had fun and looked cute doing it!!

Last night we were sung to sleep with the sweet lullabye of "Smelly cat, smelly cat, what are they feeding you? Smelly cat, smelly cat, what are they feeding you?..." over and over and over from Caidence. And every time she is "on the phone" she is talking to either Rachel or Chandler. At least she has great taste in shows!

Live Nativity

I was on the committee for the Ward Christmas party this year. We wanted to do something different than the usual dinner and reading the Nativity story. We heard about the Live Nativity that they do every year out in Riverton and found out that you can rent the animals. We read the Nativity story, but had all the kids dressed as angels or shepherds and had a manger built, AND we had a donkey, sheep, goats, and a camel. It turned out wonderful and heard it was the best Christmas party they had been to from a lot of people...
But my dad came home from church today with the inside scoop. He was talking to the Bishop and found out what had happened the day after the party:

This weekend was Stake Conference so there was a crew that went in to clean the church. When they got there, they noticed camel poo smeared on the carpet. They called the head of the cleanup and told him to come look at the church. He then called the Stake President who happens to be in his Ward and told him to come down and look at his church building. Well, at this point there is a member of our Ward that works at the Church Office Building who had been to the party and was hearing people all over the Church Office Building talking about some Ward that had a party with camels and had camel crap all over their church. So the Stake President, Pres. Mantyla, calls our Bishop and asks if he has a minute to talk. He says "So I hear you had a party last night." Bishop: "Yeah we did." Pres.: "And I hear there's camel poop on the carpet?" Bishop: "Yeah we have someone coming to clean the carpets today." Pres: "So you had a camel in the church?" Bishop: "President, I looked through the entire handbook and nowhere did it say no livestock were allowed in the church." Pres.: "Well, you're right. I couldn't find it anywhere in the handbook either."

My dad said the Bishop was laughing through the entire story. Only our Bishop would let us get away with something like this.

Rub a dub dub, Five girls in a tub!

Thanksgiving at the cabin consisted of 30 people and 3 bedrooms. We had five babies in pack-n-plays and they were put in the game closet, the closet under the stairs (aka The Harry Potter room), and every nook and cranny possible. People slept wherever there was an empty cushion. We ate and played and went sledding and played cards and ate some more. It was a dream vacation for all these little cousins! Since Caidence was born we've had 6 little girls born in the last 2 years. And grandkid number 20 is on his way. What a fun family!

8 Months

We did finally get Jordyn a new car seat (two actually. I found one online at Target but it was on backorder for a few weeks so I gave up and found the same one brand new on eBay, bought it, and then got back on Target to cancel the order and they had just happened to release the order that day and shipped it out. So I kept both and sold Caid's old one.) But I have to keep up the pictures in her old one to see how big she's getting...and she is growing so fast!
This is what happens when you don't strap her in and try to get a picture.
*crawls everywhere now!
*loves to spit and talk and make sure you know she's there
*still sleeps like a champ, 12-14 hours at night and 2-3 naps during the day
*happy, pleasant, easy
*momma's girl-if I walk in the room, she wants me to hold her. If I walk out of the room, she'll crawl after me
*LOVES food-wants to eat whatever we are eating and has a meltdown if you stop feeding her before she's done
*loves to ride in the cart at stores and smile and laugh at people

Happy Halloween!

A little late, I forgot I had these on my camera. We carved pumpkins and Caid enjoyed it a lot more this year. Last year she didn't want to touch the innards. This year she wanted to taste it. And she scored trick or treating. We started in the rain and figured we'd just do a few houses so she could have the experience, but it stopped raining and she just wanted to do a "couple more" so we ended up doing an entire neighborhood until it got dark.

Our "Little" Franklin

Franklin's 18 month stats: (yes he is one of our children:) )
120 Pounds...and still growing
Franklin is such a good dog! He is still a puppy, which we forget with his size, but he is nowhere near as hyper as when we first got him. He's great with the kids, we hardly ever keep him in the kennel, even when we aren't home, and other than the occasional dumping out the garbage, he is usually well behaved when left home alone. We took him to the vet last week and had a biopsy on a lump on his head. They said it's a cyst, but we shouldn't have to worry about it unless it gets bigger.
He has done his share of damage around the house, though. Eating money, dumping garbage, shredding rugs, eating carseat covers, ruining blinds when he tries to lift them with his head to see who's outside. A few months ago, during the summer, we had the kitchen window open and were outside talking to some family in the driveway. He sat barking at us through the screen wanting to come out. Finally, he realized his own strength and jumped through the screen, ripping it off, so he could come say hi. He's also gotten out a few times to go say hi to joggers passing by or to hurdle cars driving. My parents got a good laugh watching from the front porch while Zach went chasing Franklin who was chasing a car down the road. This is how he spends most of his day, random, awkward sleeping positions.
The newest place he found to sleep is in our closet.

Ahhh...

This is how I spent my morning. Zach and the girls gave me a gift card to Sego Lily Spa for Mother's Day (yes, 6 months ago and I just barely got around to using it.) It was straight out of tv: slippers and robe, meditation room in front of the fire and waterfall wall, sauna and steam room after the massage. And the best part? They got the gift card enough for 2 massages so I get to go back!

Caid Quotes

I was doing my mom's hair and Caid wanted me to get her something. My hands were covered in hair dye and I told her to wait. She said "Mother will you get it? Yes, I said Mother."

We were laying there and Caid was jumping all over the place. I said to her to just lay down and hold still. She laid down and goes "Ugh, this is ridiculous."

EVERY prayer: "Heavenly Father's day, bless the food, play with our friends. Amen." And if anyone else tries to pray, she yells at them "No, it's MY Father!"

Uncle Alex drives the shuttle bus at the hospital. I dropped her off to ride while I ran over to Costco. A lady got on the shuttle that had a band-aid. Caid said, "You have an owie?" Lady: "Yeah I got hurt at home." Caid: "Oh, it hurts when I get shots, too." Lady: "Why do you get shots?" Caid: "Cuz I have diabetes." She picks up on more than I realize. I never knew she knew the exact reason for her shots. But every time it's time to eat, she says "Check my bwood sugar." And she gets the meter ready, puts the glucose strip in, and hands it to me. She likes to pick which finger I prick, too.

Caid saw me shaving my legs and asked if she could shave hers. I said "No not until you're older." A couple of minutes later she said "Am I older yet?" I said "Ok, not until you're 10." So Zach came in the bathroom and I told her to tell dad when you can start shaving. "When I'm 4." I said "NO! When you're 10!" "Um, no when I'm 4."

Sisterly Love

Ready. Set. Almost there! She gets up on her hands and knees and rocks. But we still move around just fine with a roll and a scoot.
"Mom, take our picture!"
"Now put Jordy on my lap."
"Jordy, hold still!"
"Stop Jord! Don't hit!"
"Mom, put her in her's bed."
