Happy Birthday Caidence!!

Caidence has been planning her birthday party for over a year! Every time she goes to another party, she finds her favorite part of it and wants to add that to her party. So when it finally got close to her birthday, she'd already had it all figured out. We did a pajama party with breakfast. Instead of making a cake, we made waffles out of cake mix and topped them with Nutella, whip cream, and strawberries. We had bacon and ice cream. And these girls could eat! They all had seconds and thirds. Then they did manicures and we made flip flops into slippers. She got so much Monster High stuff, her friends know her well! I thought moms were crazy when they let their kids invite so many friends, but here I was with 16 little girls! Between school, church, and cousins, we didn't want to leave anyone out and so we had quite the party! And the birthday girl said it was "The best party ever!!"

She asked for an American Girl doll, but those are over $100 and I would have made her leave it on a shelf instead of play with it. We got her the Target version instead and she was thrilled. Jordyn got her a puppy to go with it and grandma and grandpa got her an "iPod" which she has been listening to nonstop.

I can't believe I have a 6 year old! Caidence is such a smarty pants. She's independent, strong willed, into fashion and wants to be a fashion designer, very outgoing, loves her siblings and is such a helper, is reading, loves to color and draw and write in her journals, loves to help cook and clean (as long as it's not her own messes.) She's the best 6 year old we could ask for!!

Friend Easter Egg Hunt

I got together with some of my high school friends and had an egg hunt with all of our kids. It's so fun seeing everyone with little kids, but so crazy because I feel like we were just kids ourselves!! Insulin Pump!!

Look who is officially off of shots! After almost 4 years of having shots with every meal, we finally got Caidence an insulin pump. She was so nervous and did not want to make the switch. The morning of, I asked her what she wanted to wear and she pulled the blanket over her head and yelled, "Nothing! I'm not getting a pump!" We got to the dr. and she was so quiet and anxious. I had the training and then they had me put in the "catheter." She cried a bit, but then got her prize and seemed fine. And then all of a sudden her nerves got the best of her. She turned white as a ghost and I rushed her to the sink just in time for her to throw up. But by the time we left the office, she felt great and is loving her pump! She loves pushing the buttons, she understands what needs to be entered in now and she even got a pink case for it. Her last A1C was 6.8 which is fantastic, so we're hoping the pump will keep it down, if not lower it more. For her first pump, it's pretty high tech: touch screen, rechargeable, water proof. She likes to tell people it's her phone. She's certainly the bravest girl ever!!

I told Jordyn she couldn't wear these pajamas out in public to run errands because they are too small and have a huge ink stain. "But mom! They remind me of my Heavenly Father because they have clouds all over them!" Can't argue with that. She got to wear her ink stained jammies on errands. 

Spring Break 2014

Technically last week was our Spring Break, but I spent it babysitting cousins so this week when Mandy invited us to go to Vegas for theirs, I pulled the kids out of school and hit the road. It sounded good in theory, but Trey had other plans. I've discovered he is a homebody. When I was babysitting for Benji and Allison last week Trey wouldn't nap. He cried every time we were in the car running kids around. Then came Vegas. He LITERALLY cried and screamed the entire trip from Salt Lake to Las Vegas, minus a quick 30 minute nap. Any time we'd stop at a gas station, the second I would get him out of the car and hold him, the crying would shut off instantly. Mandy's girls were going crazy! As soon as we finally made it to Micah's house, Trey had me in a death grip. He was kissing me and nuzzling me and didn't want to let me go. He had a rough time the rest of the trip. He wasn't ever very happy and was overwhelmed by all the cousins and noise and change of schedule. He didn't nap the entire trip. The first night he was up all night long. From then on if he'd even see that we were walking to the car to get in, he'd instantly start shaking and crying again. 

Thursday we drove an hour to Logandale (yes, he screamed the entire way) for the Clark County Fair with Mandy's friend Cyndi. I claim her as a friend now because we've been on so many trips with them to St. George and always get together with Cyndi and her kids. It was like the small town fairs straight from the movies. We got the kids unlimited ride wristbands and they did not disappoint. They went from one ride to the next nonstop. Unfortunately, while we took a snowcone break Jordyn took off her wristband because it was bugging her and left it on the grass, but didn't tell me until later so we couldn't find it. Good thing she got lots of rides in at the beginning because she couldn't go on anymore the rest of the day. So instead she curled up in the shade and took a nap for a few hours. Trey got a little cat nap in, but nothing like what he needed. The poor miserable boy wouldn't take a bottle, wanted a nap but couldn't, and just wanted to be home. But he hung in there. We were there 11 am to 11 pm. 

Friday we took lunches to the park, ate with Micah and his kids, and got ready for the screaming drive home. Luckily he must have worn himself out because he only cried the first hour or so and then fell asleep so we powered through and drove as far as we could until he woke up and then stopped for dinner.

We got back to Mandy's so late that night so we slept over and had Zach pick us up the next morning. Trey was all smiles in our own car. He kept leaning forward and trying to see me in the front seat. As soon as we got home he crashed for a 3 hour nap. He was all smiles the whole day being back in his own home. It was a fun trip, but it will definitely be a while before we make him travel again. 

Eight Months

Another month has flown by. I should have the biggest biceps by now because I don't think this chunk has been put down in 8 months! Trey is such a mama's boy! He wants me to hold him 24/7 and since I don't love hearing him scream all day, he gets his way. And he's perfectly content in my arms. But doesn't just hold still. He has to be squirming and moving and grabbing everything in reach. Hes not very happy to be in his car seat in the car because he's not being held. He's started scooting around, but he moves backwards so he gets frustrated. He takes 2 good naps a day, but refuses to go in his crib so he'll lay on my bed. That won't work much longer once he figures out crawling. But when we try to just let him cry himself to sleep in his crib, he'll scream for 2 straight hours and never go to sleep. He just loves to cuddle and loves being around people. He still gets up at night to eat (I think? It's never for long so I don't know if I fully wake up. But every once in a while we get a really bad night where he's up a lot! I definitely remember those.) He's loving any and all food now. Look at those thighs!! He loves to sit and play with toys, as long as I'm in arms reach. Trey loves when I sing "Popcorn Popping," "If You're Happy and You Know It," and "Itsy Bitsy Spider." He loves to attack our face with slobbery kisses. He may be high maintenance, but when he wraps his chubby little arms around my neck and cuddles up into my neck, it makes up for it! And as can be shown by the million pictures, I can't resist that cute face!
