Playgroup

We have a fun group in our Ward that try and get together for playgroup every so often. We planned to go swimming at the Cottonwood Heights Rec Center but then found out they changed their hours now that school is back in so they weren't open until late afternoon. We tried Murray Park Pool, but they are now closed except for Labor Day weekend. I finally found an indoor pool that was open. We literally walked in the door, paid, walked into the pool area, and they blew the whistle clearing the pool. Someone had poohed in the pool! Then they wouldn't even give us our money back, just vouchers to come back another time. We decided to head out to my friend, Crystal's, mom's house and swim in her pool. We got there, unloaded all our crap again, and the pool cover was broken and wouldn't open. So we broke out the make-shift waterslide and hose!

Little Miss Naughty

I'm pretty sure this book was written about Jordyn. Caidence was a curious toddler, but never into things the way Jordyn is. I never had to worry about what she was doing when she was quiet. But Jordyn...this girl is constantly testing me! I used to think she just liked to eat out of the trash. I'm now noticing that she likes to throw things away in the trash. But not just garbage. I find sippy cups, toys, bowls...and now in the last week I've had an unused Target gift card disappear after she was holding my wallet and one of my TOMS shoes that she had been wearing around the house. I've searched every inch of this house and my only guess is that they went out with the trash. Why didn't I search the garbage can before the garbage man came? It just happened to be the week that it was filled with wet smelly grass and the dog crap cleaned up from the lawn. The chance of MAYBE finding my shoe and gift card was definitely not worth searching the fly infested garbage. Then today after I was finishing the breakfast dishes, Caid comes in holding a small box that I knew was on top of their dresser. I asked how come she had it and she said "Jord did it." That is usually her answer for most things these days, and usually the truth. I walk in to see this...

Park City Getaway

Happy 7 years to us! Zach and I went to Park City a few months back with just us so we decided to take the girls and have a family getaway to celebrate our anniversary and end the Summer with a bang. We've gone to the cabin or camping, but this was the first real "bacation" for the girls. Within 30 seconds of checking in to the hotel, they were begging to go swimming. After the pool, we headed to main street for dinner. Mmmm Main Street Pizza & Noodle....
After dinner we went and got ice cream and movies to take back to the hotel. You know you are on a vacation with kids when you are in your pajamas back in your room by 7:30.
Jord's new trick, "ta-da! ta-da!" over and over and over.
Saturday (after going swimming again first thing when we woke up due to more begging) we were thinking about going to the Alpine Slide but decided we had passes to Jungle Jim's we needed to use so we did that instead. And the girls didn't mind a bit!

Dinosaur Museum

We had never been to the Dinosaur Museum at Thanksgiving Point so we decided to take advantage of $2 Tuesday and head down with my sister-in-law Natalie and her kids. It just so happened EVERY other mom in Utah had the same idea. It was wall to wall people! My pictures aren't great because I was trying to keep track of my kids in the herd and we didn't even come close to seeing everything. The highlight was the box of Bacon 'n cheddar crickets Caid wanted. I told her I would only buy them for her if she promised to eat them. She must not have known what she was promising because the second I opened the bag, she screamed and threw them. I gave one to Jord but she just sucked off all of the flavor and spit the rest out. Luckily Gavin and Damon were there to finish them off. I certainly wasn't going to help.

Playing at the Zoo

A few weekends ago my niece Savannah stayed with us. Nicole invited us to go to the zoo with her and her kids so I packed up all three kids and went to play.
I love Caidence's face in this picture. Eyeing Sav who she had to share her cotton candy with.

Wheeler Farm

We went to Wheeler Farm and of course right when I got there, my camera died. Luckily I got a few cute pictures on my phone.

Remember my post about Jord's blanket a while back? Well, this is what happens when it's time to wash it. She's fine if I sneak it in without her seeing, but this time she knows where it is and can't get to it! And now it's naptime and that blanket can't dry fast enough...

East Canyon

Cory and Heather invited us to go boating at East Canyon a few weeks ago. I love love boating and this was my only time going this summer! I miss going as much as I did growing up. The water was so high that the beach was completely gone. The water was up over the cement wall that separates the beach from the picnic areas. We had brought a bunch of toys for the kids to play with in the sand so since there wasn't any, they found a dirt mound and made dirt castles instead.
Mom and dad people watching
Cory tried, and failed, to kill us! Me, Kalee, and Heather...bruised, sore, but never once dumped!
I opted for a gentler ride next.
And whenever no one else jumped in fast enough, Caid made sure to grab the open seat. She couldn't get enough!
This is exactly what babies are supposed to do on the boat! Without fail, put the baby under the passenger chair on a stack of towels and they are out. Even my little Jordy who refuses to sleep anywhere but in a crib was soothed right to sleep by the waves!

Rideout Campout

We usually go to Lake Powell every year with Zach's family, but there was so much going on this year we decided to just do a weekend in the canyons. We stayed at Tanners Flat up Little Cottonwood Canyon. I love camping. I love tents and fires and being dirty. I've been begging Zach since we got married to go camping and this was the first time we've actually gone!
Saturday morning we decided to go for a "little" hike. The hike up to Cecret Lake was only 0.4 miles and we thought it would be short and easy with all the kids. It ended up being hot and long and rocky and steep! And snowy...Then once we got to the top the kids were so hot and just wanted to get in the water and we found out it was drinking water and there was a major fine if anyone even touched it.
