Caid Quotes

When Caid gets ornery, it's hard to know if it's because she's 3, and a girl, or if it's her blood sugar so any time she starts acting that way, I first check her blood sugar. If it's low, I try and explain to her that the reason she is sad or ornery is because she needs some sugar in her body. She is now using this to her advantage. We were going to Costco and she wanted some pizza. I told her maybe we could get some on our way out. We started our shopping, then had to go wait in line at the pharmacy, with her continuing to ask the whole time if she could get some pizza. Finally as we were checking out at the pharmacy, she said, "Mom. I think my sugar is a little too low. Maybe you should go get my pizza now!"

We were going to bed and I checked her blood sugar. It was low so I was trying to ask her what she wanted to eat, but she just kept saying she was tired and didn't want to eat. After a half hour of trying to get her to eat, she pulled the covers over her face and tried to get me to leave her alone. I told her she needed some sugar and I wouldn't let her go to sleep until she ate or drank something. She finally grabbed the juice I was holding, gulped it down, and said "See, the sugar in my belly is higher! Now can you just leave me alone and let me sleep?"

I must spend a lot of time in sweats because one day I walked out in jeans and a t-shirt and Caid said "Wow, mom. You look so pretty, like, so fancy!"

We passed the laundrymat and she told me "I sure wish I could do laundry in the giant laundry room one day."

We were over playing at Zach's brothers house and he has three boys. Caid loves to play with them, but when we left she said "Those boys were being mean. They kept hitting." I told her that's what would happen if she had brothers. She was immediately concerned and said "I don't want boys in my house. All boys do is make a huge mess all the time." I hear ya on that one!!

St. George

A few weeks ago we went down to St. George for my cousin Nicole's wedding. Jordyn is a wonderful sleeper...in bed. But not the case in the car. We went during naptime hoping she would be so tired she would just sleep the whole time, but instead she screamed the entire way! The kids wouldn't play dress up with us and they thought we were crazy for doing it without them. She managed to get the cookies open while we were still shopping. At least it kept her occupied!

VOGUE! Strike a pose!

Crystal captured Caid's personality perfectly in her 3 year old photo shoot! She definitely did not want to just sit and smile for the camera! We did get a few of her smiling, but the majority looked like these.

Soccer

Well soccer season has come to an end. Oh yeah, did I mention Caid was on a soccer team this year? Notice I didn't say "played" on a soccer team this year. She was all excited about it...until she found out she had to share the ball. She might be a tennis player afterall... Could that lower lip get any bigger? The only time we actually got her out on the field was with Zach out there with her. "My game's over. Can we get ice cream now?!"

Taylor Adam Giles 8/11/1981 ~ 4/7/2011 Taylor attended schools in West Valley and graduated from Hunter High School. He was currently attending SLCC. He took great pride in his job and enjoyed being part of the LifeFlight team. He was a member of the LDS Church.Taylor will be missed for so many reasons but a few of them are his passion for everything outdoors, his inability to having his picture taken without making a face, his love of cold weather (we are blaming him for the recent snowstorms), his loyalty, his goofiness, his daily calls to his mom, his offbeat sense of humor, and his tendency to just generally stir up fun-loving trouble. Taylor will be dearly missed by his dad and mom Ken and Susan Giles, his little "big" brother Alex, his grandparents Carol Giles and Robert and LeeAnn Spackman as well as numerous other close family members and loving friends. Taylor was preceded in death by his grandpa Glen Giles and his dog Butch.

T.A. was one of the most wonderful friends you could ask for. He was so kind, selfless, could always make you laugh, and you could count on him for anything. He showed up at the hospital to visit both of my babies, and when I posted on Facebook that Caid was in the hospital with Diabetes, he was there within hours to visit and see if we needed anything. I've told people multiple times that if I was ever stranded out in the middle of nowhere hours away in the middle of the night and needed money (very random thought, I know) but I would have called Tay cuz I know he'd be there no questions asked to help. He was just that kind of person. From the time we met, he's been one of my closest friends, whether we talked once a week, or every few months. He called whenever he was driving around my end of the valley just to say he was out this direction and thought he'd check in to see if we were still alive. We'll miss you Tay!

Ta-da!!

Bathroom Before:
After: Painted brown (Caid wanted to know why I was painting over the turtle on the wall)
Family Room Before:
After: Painted brown and put up drapes
Kitchen Before:
After: Painted light grey and put in new floor, backsplash, and tile countertops made by my dad
Dining Room Before:
After: New floor, painted dark grey with a pear green accent wall, installed cabinets and painted antique white, bar built by my dad with matching backsplash and tile counter
I can't believe how different it all looks! It opens it up and brightens it up so much. It just feels like home. We love living by my parents and seeing them every day. Even though the house is a lot smaller than our old one, it is comfortable and feels just right. We love our Ward and neighbors and friends in the area. I love the friends I've made. We have book club and playgroups and girls nights. They all have kids the same ages and my girls love to play with them. A year and a half ago it felt like our world was falling apart and now we are grateful and know that this is where we are supposed to be.

Hard at Work

I've had visions of what I've wanted to do to fix up the "old house" since about the time we moved in last Christmas, but it all felt so overwhelming. Then about the beginning of April I got the itch to just do it. I painted the whole house (okay, I still need to do the 2 bedrooms, but I will get around to it), and spent a week up the ladder since the house is all 10 ft ceilings. I had to work quick and get as much painted during nap time as I could because when Jordyn was awake, she would sit at the bottom of the ladder and scream for me to hold her. Not because she really wanted me, but because she didn't want me doing something else besides pay attention to her.My dad started ripping up the kitchen floor and I'm pretty sure Grandpa Eldredge was laughing at us from Heaven. He put this floor in decades ago and he wanted to make sure it would last. There were nails every 2 square inches and the floor would just break into tiny pieces when you'd try and tear it out. It took more work to get it out than to put the new one in. After two days of me and my dad chipping away at the floor, my dad finally went and rented the right power tool to tear it out.We knew there was hardwood under the carpet and thought about just refinishing it instead of putting a new floor in, but once we got down to it, it definitely was not what we pictured.Yes, my kids did spend about 2 weeks straight in pajamas. Don't judge.Don't let the picture with the two boys fool you. They didn't show up until it was done. :) Me and and my dad did the whole floor ourselves and my mom helped clean and entertain the kids. Not bad if I do say so myself! I'll post all the before and after pictures of our complete project next...

No longer my little baby...

Jordyn is out of baby mode and into toddler mode. She chases Caidence around, chases Franklin around, and is into everything! She loves to tease and play...but refuses to walk. She got this car to share with Caidence for their birthdays from Grandma and Crappa (as Caid says) Eldredge and they fight over it constantly. They both love it and Jordyn will get in it and sit in it all day, or will put one foot out the door and push it around. She doesn't even look like a baby anymore! Too bad the ponytails get ripped out almost as fast as I can put them in.
I put a brand new roll of toilet paper in the bathroom, went to do dishes, came back and this is what I found.I was working at the computer and could hear her start laughing. I finally looked up and realized she was trying to play peek a boo with me. I love this girl!!

Happy *Late* Easter!

I did terrible at taking pictures for Easter but I finally decided I should put them up anyways. We had the Rideout Easter scavenger hunt and dinner out at Mandy and Chris's and the girls loved it. Then we did it all over again the next week at my parents. When it came time for the Easter bunny to come to our house, he was pretty boring and just left them their baskets. Maybe next year he'll step up his game and actually hide some eggs around. Serious slacker this year!

Aunt Kalee asked if she could borrow "Tangled." I have never seen Caid so concerned about letting something go, she was so scared that Kalee would get fingerprints or scratch or never return her "special" movie!
