Jordy Quotes

You may notice a running theme with the things Jord talks about:

The girls were in bed and Caid had already fallen asleep. Jordyn yelled to me, "Mom, Caid tooted. I heard her. You need to come change her!"

Bedtime is a battle with Jord. She goes to bed fine, but then keeps getting up for different reasons. She had already gone to the bathroom, but she got up again and said she needed to go to the bathroom again. I told her if she was lying I would spank her. So she sat on the toilet for a minute and then said, "Ok you can spank me." I lightly spanked her (just so I could stick to my guns) and then told her it would be harder if she got up again. She turned to me and said, "Don't even think about spanking me harder!"

And again another night, we'd already done the potty thing before bed, but she came out of bed saying she had to go to the bathroom. I told her she had already gone potty so go back to bed. She put her hands on her hips and said, "Mom, that was last night and if I don't go, my peep will come out and go all over my bed!"

Caid Quotes

I really should just give up on blogging. It's just turning into funny things my kids say. But once they are older and saying these things, I won't find them funny anymore. The sassiness may only be cute for so long. :)

Caid was cuddling with Uncle Alex and looked up at him and said, "Alex, we're going to die in the same spot in Heaven cuz I love you!"

Jordyn was trying to cheer Caidence up when she was sad. She was using the voice adults use when they are talking to a little baby. Caid said, "Jord, stop using your grown up voice! Talk in your own voice!"

I was looking thru the kids shows on Hulu and saw that they had Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. I said, "Did you know that I used to watch that when I was your age?' To which the little smart alec responded, "Nope I didn't know that. I was up in Heaven and couldn't see you."

I had a root canal this week. On my way to drop the girls off with a sitter, Caid asked why one of her friends moved to a new house. I told her they sold their house so they could buy a new one. She said, "We'll never get a new house. The dentist keeps taking all our money."

Happy Halloween!!

We know how to pack a LOT of fun into one holiday! And we have the candy to prove it.

Zach's work had a Fall festival and he got to be in the dunk booth. The little girls couldn't hit the target with the ball so they'd just run up and make sure they got to dunk their dad, anyways..
Then we had our Ward Trunk or Treat. I was also babysitting my niece and nephews that weekend so between running around picking up the food for 300 people that we somehow got put in charge of and taking care of 6 kids, we somehow all made it dressed to our party.Jordy may be scarred for life after being left in the van by herself, but she recovered when she found out she got candy.
As we were getting ready for the party, Jord was throwing a fit!! I told her she couldn't go unless she was happy so this captures her mid-tantrum turned laugh so that I would think she was happy.
This one was actually taken a few weeks before when the kids were playing in the costume box, but Caid's face kills me!
I did win an award for my costume, but mainly by default. I was one of the only adults to actually dress up. Boring!
Zach scared everyone away from our car. The little kids skipped ours until he got out. :)
On Halloween day, Caid had her first costume parade! I've gone to my niece and nephews every year since they started and now I'm finally going to my own kids. It's not Halloween without the elementary parade! After they did a little program of songs and then had a pinata.
Caid and her friend, Jaedin
Before actual trick or treating, we went trick or treating at Don's work. This is no minor thing. They got more candy here than anywhere else. Maybe that's why my kids get so excited when we drive past his work all year long.
And then by actual trick or treat time, they were too worn out to walk so they got the royal treatment. But that didn't last long, we didn't walk fast enough so they got out and RAN door to door.
And we can't forget the best part of my girls' holiday, the Wahlens haunted nursery. We went 7 times this year and would have gone every night if I'd let them. They took every friend they could talk into going. By the end they had decided the Wahlens were their Aunt and Uncle and I'm pretty sure Dave and Karen were ready to adopt them. Reminds me of when I was that little and couldn't wait to go over and hang out at their house, too.

Jord Quotes

My Grandpa Coons was over at my parents house and I told Jord we were going over to visit. She asked, "Is he there with his other little grandma?" My Grandma Coons is a very short little grandma. :)

"Mom, I'm bored of staying home with you. I want to go to somebody's house!"

Caid Quotes

Caid: Mom, I have a Twinkie. Can you pull it out?
Me: What?
Caid: A Twinkie. You know, when your underwear is up your bum. Can you pull out my Twinkie?

You have earrings on today. Does that mean we get to go to church?

Date night!

I found a deal on Groupon (big surprise) for a Haunted Zipline. We've tried to do a zipline a few times, but it never ended up happening, once when I was pregnant in Mexico and too sick to do it and once in Hawaii, but we had the little girls so we couldn't go. (I know, poor me, huh?) So I was so excited to find a deal on one so we could finally try it. I surprised Zach and told him to just leave the night open for a date. We got Simon and Natalie to come with us and headed up to Orem for some delicious sushi and then headed up Provo Canyon to the zipline. It was about 10:00 at night when we got to our turn and they take you up the mountain along the Provo River to the top. From there it is a mile of ziplines over the river and thru the trees but so dark all you can see is the moon and stars. It was supposed to be haunted, but I think all that meant was the workers were dressed up in costumes. If there was stuff in the trees, it was too dark to see. I loved it! I went first and just jumped off the platform and went for it. Zach was pretty nervous, but loved it, and Natalie they practically had to push off after convincing her for 10 minutes that she'd be ok. She was still a little shaky by the end but said she'll do it again with us next year. Definitely something I'm going back for!
