Fall is in the air!

Which means it's time to break out the warm clothes! The girls picked out these matching mohawk hats at the store and I couldn't resist. They wore them around all day, even though it's still in the 80's!This is pretty much what we've been living on for the past week. Zach went to St. George for a tennis tournament and me and the girls all got sick. Then we passed it on to him when he got home. Poor Jordyn was miserable! She never sleeps anywhere but in a crib or pack n play and this is how I found her. She had her 18 month check up and when we got home, she dropped right inside the door and went to sleep. She grew a whole 8 ounces since her last appt! So she's now a whopping 21 pounds (5-10 percentile) and 31.2 inches (25-50 percentile.) She looks so cute and little running around. But definitely has BIG personality! That's one thing my kids don't lack. They have mastered the sassy attitude. And since we've all been cooped up and sick, we pulled out the Halloween and Fall decor! When we walked out to see our cute spider web, I couldn't believe the amount of ivy taking over our house! My dad said we could rip it all off, but I think it just belongs. Except we may have to trim around that window or we may not be able to see outside anymore. This is what I'm going to miss most! I dread the snow and now I have one more reason, the kids won't get to play outside all day/night. They are happiest when they are out riding bikes or playing with sidewalk chalk. My hardwood always has chalk prints in my entry way from the newly colored chalk outside. The weather is so perfect on these fall nights that we stay out and play until bedtime. Have to take advantage because I'm sure it won't last much longer!

A very long sandwich post tributed to my sister who wrote a very long post about a sandwich

A few months back my older and wiser sister, Jami, wrote an obsurdly long post here about a sandwich. It was very entertaining, the pictures looked delicious, but it honestly looked like a lot of work for a sandwich so I read it and forgot about it. Then a few months later we were at the cabin and my other older and wiser sister, Jodi, pulled out the sandwich fixings and made just such sandwich. However, she had forgotten the peppers so it was more of just a meat and cheese sandwich, but tasty nonetheless. So, more time had passed and I was at the grocery store trying to find something to make for lunches, other than PB&J, Ramen, and Mac 'n Cheese with hot dogs everyday. I called Jodi and asked what was on "that one sandwich she made at the cabin." She gave me the list of ingredients and reminded me that it was the sandwich that Jami raved about. They are older and wiser for a reason. Why didn't I listen to them sooner!? This sandwich is now part of my daily happy time. I lay the kids down for a nap, put together this masterpiece, and sit down with my Dr. Pepper to watch my smutty TV. I literally had this sandwich 6 days in a row because I bought a 6-pack of rolls and was scared they would go moldy before I could enjoy every last one. And then I missed it so bad I went back to the store to buy more yesterday. However, I obviously should have read her post right before I went to the store because I remembered there was a red pepper that started with a "P" and got home with pimientos. I may have to go back to the store tomorrow before lunch to pick up some peppadews because I'm apparently missing out. I also don't have the patience to bake it for 20 minutes so I just throw it in on broil for about 30 seconds until it's full of ooey cheesy goodness. I also leave out the olives. On purpose. Next time I will not be waiting six months before trying something this delicious if it's worthy of such an obsurdly long post.

First Day of Preschool

Luckily the first day of school went better than the Open House the week before. At said open house, Caid got into a fight. With a boy. Cooper is a little boy in our Ward so me and Whitney decided to sign them up for school together. Apparently since they already know each other, sharing goes out the door and they starting fighting over a toy. I had to take Caid outside kicking and screaming because she was so mad that Cooper took some stupid toy from her. Uncle Alex gave her some bad advice that I had to try and convince her all weekend that he was teasing because she told my poor mother in law that if he fought with her again she would just "punch him in the face." So Monday I drove her to school and told her the whole way "If you fight or aren't nice I will pull you out of school and you will take naps while all your friends are playing." It must have worked because they got along much better. When I picked her up I asked how her first day was. "Good." Who did you sit by? "A boy." What was his name? "I dunno." Well what did he look like? "Justin Beaver."

And I purposely put her in afternoon so I can drop her off, come home and put Jord to bed, and have 3 full hours of ME time!

This is my lovely daughter so happy to be going to school! Actually she was, but I kept asking her to smile for a picture and she said "I AM! Now let's go to class!"
I did finally get a smile once we were outside her classroom.See the "little" boy in the brown stripes next to Caid? He's the boy in blues ONE YEAR OLD brother. I think he's bigger than Caidence! My biggest concern for Caid going to school is her Diabetes. We had a meeting with the school nurse and teacher a week ago and taught the teacher how to test her blood sugar. Unfortunately there are only 3 nurses for all of the schools in the district so she isn't at her school all the time. She did come to Caid's class for the first day to help the teacher, but from here on out she most likely won't be there. I've sent a bag of treats to put in the fridge in case her sugar gets low, the teacher has a detailed list of instructions, and now I just have to hope there's no problems!

Wolf Creek

My picture taking was greatly neglected on this vacation. We went to Wolf Creek with Zach's family and got two condos, boys stayed in one and girls in the other (isn't that convenient since I have two girls, which means Zach got the vacation and I got just another day being a mom :) ). We went hot tubbing, to the Ogden Dinosaur Park, hiking, and the boys did lots of tennis, raquetball, shooting, and sleeping.

Jordy

Oh, how I love this girl. I remember when I was pregnant with her, I wondered if I could ever love her as much as Caidence because I didn't think it was possible to share that love, but amazingly I do! She makes me laugh all day, and is now starting to talk and make me laugh even more. She's no longer my little baby, but now a little person. She wants to do everything the big kids do and loves to be around Caidence. Her "happy place" is outside. She's always begging to go outside and if anyone goes out, she's right at their heels trying to sneak out the door. She loves babies and dogs. I will definitely have to keep a close eye on our next baby (no, this is not an announcement) or she will probably mother it and manhandle it more than she should. Even though she is into everything and doesn't know the meaning of "no," I love the heck out of her! Pretty sure I'm the luckiest mom around to have two such gorgeous sweet girls!
