First Grade

First grade! All day school! How in the world is she old enough?! All Summer Caidence had been telling me that there was one teacher she did not want. She was across the hall from her kindergarten class and yelled and sounded mean. Then we found out that's exactly who she got. And she didn't have a single friend in her class. This girl is amazing. After being a little mad at first about her teacher, she finally said, "I'll be just fine. I'm a rule follower so I won't get yelled at and I can just play with my friends at recess." We went in a few days before school started to meet with the school nurse and her teacher and when we left she said her teacher was "the bomb." She was so excited to take a lunch to school and get three recesses. The day before I asked her what she was going to wear on the first day. Strider was with us and told her all she needed was Wranglers, cowboy boots, and a shirt. She didn't have Wranglers, but she made sure to wear her cowgirl boots.

Waiting at the bus stop to leave me all day!

This girl has had the worst week. She was so mad Caidence left her. She's been bored and ornery all day. We've done Slurpee runs, D.I. drop offs, walked to the duck pond to feed the ducks, Wheeler Farm, went for a drive up the canyon, played outside, and she's still not happy. Preschool can not start soon enough!

Happy 80th birthday Grandma!

We fit in one last party before school started. We all headed down to St. George for Grandma Coons 80th birthday party. It's always fun seeing all the cousins, even though they should all still be little kids and not having kids of their own. We don't see them very often and if it weren't for Facebook, I wouldn't recognize any of them!

We got a text from Cory inviting us to go to the Toquerville Falls. He said it would be great for little kids of all ages. Little did we know he'd never even been there. We had to pile in the two 4-wheel drive cars and take this dirt road that lasted forever, not quite sure where we were headed. It ended up being gorgeous and everyone went cliff jumping, even me and Jodi! She went first and there was no way I was going to let her show me up. Good thing we didn't find out until after that someone had died there the week before.

We went to the church that afternoon for dinner and the party. Then we headed to Tuacahn for "The Little Mermaid." The girls loved it! Jordyn fell asleep before it ended and wouldn't even wake up for the fireworks, but she partied pretty hard all weekend. But Caidence couldn't have loved it more.

Caidence got a bloody nose at the party and kept jumping in everyone's pictures with her tissue hanging out of her nose.

Enjoying our last few hours in the sun and getting lots of kisses from my Trey man! He's definitely a lover, not a fighter!

Police and Fire Safety

Good thing mom and dad let us tag along so we're not home bored! We went with them to Murray Park for the Police and Fire safety night. The kids got to see the inside of fire trucks, watch attack dogs training, see Lifeflight land, get hot dogs, and wait in line for prizes. (We waited in the longest line for a stuffed police dog and they ran out literally the person right in front of us!) Good thing they got so many other prizes so they weren't too upset over it. But Jordy was very upset when I said it was time to go because we'd seen everything and she hadn't got to play on the playground yet. What's the point of coming to the park if we aren't going to play?

Happy 10 Year Anniversary!

10 years! Crazy!! Zach had finals during our anniversary and then we went to Heber so we celebrated a week late. I got a room in Park City on a last minute deal. We got there, not having any idea what to expect and it was right at the base of the Alpine Slide. It was an hour before closing so before we even took our stuff to our room, we hurried and went up the tram to go on it. I'm a wuss. I should have gone on the turtle track. The kid behind me caught up to me before I made it to the bottom. But I was so scared of falling off the side! I survived. We went to take our stuff up to our room and it was literally big enough for a bed and desk, but the roof was at a slope so it felt even more compact. At least it was clean. :) We headed to Main Street for dinner and wandered until we found an Irish pub that sounded good, Flannagan's. I got fish n chips that were delicious and so big I could barely finish one. Zach got bangers and champs. It ended up being sausage and potatoes. Everything was delicious. We went back to our hotel and got in bed at 7:30. We had no kids and no responsibility for the night so we watched tv until I was ready for ice cream. Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory was literally right under our room so we went down for a treat and went back to bed. We were probably asleep before 10:00. It was great! A very relaxing anniversary!

Heber Valley Rideout Vacation

We went up to the church property in Heber for two nights for the Rideout vacation this year. In the words of Caidence, "IT WAS AWESOME!!" It was a great setup for a family vacation. We had 3 cabins and ended up with extra beds. There was plenty of room for everyone. We saw deer everywhere, chipmunks hung out in your camp, they had a volleyball court right by us, we did canoes and paddle boats on the lake, and everyone did the zip line. Caidence tried to back out right before her turn, but decided she'd give it a shot. And she was so glad she did! The second she started climbing the huge ladder, she got the biggest smile. Then she sacked it faster than I could! Jordyn tried, but got a little nervous at the very top so they let her swing from the rope a little and then brought her down. She said she'll try it again when she's bigger. Trey looked homeless the entire time. He played in the dirt and rocks, ate rocks, threw food in the rocks and then ate it. He could not be happier. The first night I was so uncomfortable I never fell asleep. I literally read 1 1/2 books in one night. I finally dozed off at 6:00 am, only to be woken up by kids at 7:15. The second night was slightly better, but there's no better feeling than sleeping in your own bed after a vacation.

Canyon Picnic

We had a little family night for dinner with my parents last week. We grabbed some KFC and headed up the canyon for a picnic. The kids played in the stream and crawled in the dirt. But on the way home, Caid said, "But what the heck is a canyon?" We kept saying we were going to the canyons for dinner. Apparently a picnic table in the woods wasn't what she'd dreamt it up to be.

Feeding Time

Oh, how fun it is when they claim their independence and want to feed themselves. I swear this boy ends up with a full scrub down after every meal! But his excitement of eating is adorable.

It's Party Time!!

Trey's birthday partying continued all weekend. We had the Eldredge side over for a BBQ and cake and ice cream. Trey loved his cake! But mostly the frosting. And his truck from grandma and grandpa.
