Hard at Work

I've had visions of what I've wanted to do to fix up the "old house" since about the time we moved in last Christmas, but it all felt so overwhelming. Then about the beginning of April I got the itch to just do it. I painted the whole house (okay, I still need to do the 2 bedrooms, but I will get around to it), and spent a week up the ladder since the house is all 10 ft ceilings. I had to work quick and get as much painted during nap time as I could because when Jordyn was awake, she would sit at the bottom of the ladder and scream for me to hold her. Not because she really wanted me, but because she didn't want me doing something else besides pay attention to her.My dad started ripping up the kitchen floor and I'm pretty sure Grandpa Eldredge was laughing at us from Heaven. He put this floor in decades ago and he wanted to make sure it would last. There were nails every 2 square inches and the floor would just break into tiny pieces when you'd try and tear it out. It took more work to get it out than to put the new one in. After two days of me and my dad chipping away at the floor, my dad finally went and rented the right power tool to tear it out.We knew there was hardwood under the carpet and thought about just refinishing it instead of putting a new floor in, but once we got down to it, it definitely was not what we pictured.Yes, my kids did spend about 2 weeks straight in pajamas. Don't judge.Don't let the picture with the two boys fool you. They didn't show up until it was done. :) Me and and my dad did the whole floor ourselves and my mom helped clean and entertain the kids. Not bad if I do say so myself! I'll post all the before and after pictures of our complete project next...
