This Old House...

Oh, the joys of living in a 100+ year old house. I got home from running errands yesterday noticed the cabinet hanging halfway off the wall. These walls are made of cement so when they were attached a few months ago, it wasn't the easiest thing to begin with. I called my repairman (dad) and he decided we needed to reinforce it from the other side. It sounded easy enough until the drill would go about 6 inches thru the wall and then stop. It kept hitting something...and we finally figured out what it was when a huge rock popped out, along with half the wall. When they built this house, they poured the concrete for the walls, and then filled it with rocks to take up space. We did get the cupboard reinforced, and now I'm in the process of patching up the nice hole in the middle of my kitchen. It's a good thing I'm done with my remodeling process because I think if I did one more thing, this house would crumble! (Or maye it will be the one thing left standing if an earthquake hit!)
